2010 Census

Last week I visited a social service agency that I frequent often to help and to seek help. The director asked me to answer a survey for her and I was happy to do so. Imagine my surprise to find out that according to the Federal Government I'm considered homeless. I work and live with my mom in my childhood home. This is very distressing to find out that I'm homeless no. 1 but also to realize that the homeless numbers are probably inflated to provide federal monies to these agencies. The 2010 Census is now underway. The number of homeless will probably be inflated. Please answer your Census Survey and be counted the right way.

Many people do not realize the importance of the Census Survey. The count determines the Congressional Districts throughout the United States. So your Congressperson's seat is in question until the count is over. The numbers are also used to provide grant numbers and other federal numbers used throughout the nation. Do you remember hearing "According to the Census numbers, we have_____homeless?" It is important to be counted and counted right.

I'm still having a tough time realizing I'm homeless but according to the government I am.
